Our Water Bungalow Dive Resort is an environmentally friendly resort on Derawan Is-land in East Kalimantan, home to unforgettable dive spots in the Sangalaki Marine Heritage Park. Our water bungalows were designed with as much attention to detail as possible to meet the needs of our Scuba Junkie guests while also minimising the impact on the environment.
The resort is located in a prime spot just off Derawan island, with beautiful ocean views & sunsets. We offer private ensuite air-conditioned water bungalows or air-conditioned, mixed- gender water dorms if you are on a bit of a budget. All packages are inclusive of breakfast, and lunch on diving days. At our open-style reception you will receive a warm welcome, where you will check in and ask any questions you may have, then be shown to your room to settle in.
In the evenings, you can enjoy a cold beer at our chill out area, which offers stunning views of the Celebes Sea, and fill out your logbook while swapping dive stories with staff and other guests. Refills of drinking water, and tea and coffee are available, and the resort has wi-fi at the reception and chill out area.
Our Water Bungalow Dive Resort has a 5 Star PADI dive centre that teaches courses ranging from Discover Scuba Dive to Advanced Open Water! It is equipped with well-maintained and properly serviced dive equipment, ensuring that you have the best dive holiday possible while visiting world-class dive sites!
Our resort provides private ensuite water bungalows with air conditioning as well as a mixed-gender water dorm that can sleep up to four people, with air-conditioning, allowing you to tailor a package to your specific needs. Wake up and relax on your own private balcony, scanning for turtles in the shallows beneath your bungalow, before heading up to the chill out area for breakfast with even more incredible views! After dinner and an evening stroll around the island, you can unwind and relax with other guests and staff at our chill out area on the enticing beanbags before retiring to your room for a restful night's sleep.

Derawan island is one of 31 islands in the Derawan archipelago, and it is the most developed due to its proximity to the mainland. In about 45 minutes, you can walk around the island, stopping at little quiet beaches to snorkel and enjoy the clear turquoise seas; turtles frequently come up close to feed on seagrass, making for an unforgettable experience. We have a special spot where you can watch newborn guitar sharks from the beach, and we are fortunate to see turtles laying eggs regularly near our resort, making for priceless memories!
We include a tasty breakfast in our accommodation & packages, and you will have lunch on your diving days. For evening meals you can explore the local area giving you lots of choice, and this also benefits the local community.
There are nearby restaurants that are open throughout the day until around 8 pm, where you can find authentic local cuisine that is delicious! If you want, you can join our staff for dinner in the small village of Derawan and continue reminiscing about your fantastic dives from the day!
There are also a few small shops where you can purchase snacks, basic toiletries/sunscreen, and souvenirs (However, be very mindful not to buy any souvenirs that were made from shells, corals and anything else from the ocean as this leads to over-exploitation of the ocean and are detrimental to the health of the reef). All places on Derawan accept cash only (IDR); please note that there is only one ATM on the island (this accepts only Indonesian bank cards) and it is not always working and there is no money exchange facilities on the island, so prepare your cash in advance from the mainland before you arrive.
