let's go

dive Sangalaki Island, the "manta ray highway"!

waves

There are not many dive locations in the world that can boast to have resident Manta Rays in the area all year round. This island is a paradise for divers who want to have the chance to experience diving with these majestic gentle giants. Sangalaki Island, which is part of the Marine Heritage Park, has been made famous due to the regular sightings of manta rays.

This island is one of the few islands in the world where you can dive and snorkel with Manta Rays on a regular basis, a little luck is of course required to be at the right site at the right time, and our dive team will always try their best to take you to these spots. These gentle giants of the sea are amazing to dive and snorkel with and they seem to really like to interact with humans. Manta Point, Manta Run and the Cleaning Station are must do dive sites if you visit the area!

indonesia's best unexplored dive sites

The dive sites around Sangalaki are one of the richest diving grounds in Indonesia, which says a lot about how good the diving is here! In fact there is over 500 varieties of soft and hard coral in the reefs surrounding the island (the entire Caribbean has only 67). Sangalaki island also contains one of the largest known nesting populations of green turtles in the Celebes Sea, thus divers and snorkelers can usually encounter lots of turtles during your trip here.

the resident manta rays

The island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon which means most of the dives here are shallow (5-20m) and the manta rays are usual seen feeding for plankton which happens in shallow water (great for our snorkellers too!). Our guests have even seen manta rays while having a coffee on the boat during the surface interval - coffee breaks don’t get much better! Diving in Sangalaki is an experience you will never forget and we are sure it will become one of your top dive experiences ever. Its manta-tastic! ☺

This area is great for divers of all qualifications and also great for snorkelers. To guarantee* going to Sangalaki Island you will need to sign up for a minimum 3 day dive package. Click here to find out about our great dive packages.
